andylaurence 0
They don't class it as a track, they just specifically exclude it, just like they specifically exclude any time trials and road rallies, even though they're on the road. Higher risk, so they try to exclude that risk.
Jamesr_VR6 0
Ring insurance is so damn complicated lolive been doing some heavy reading up on this the last hour or so and there are so many variables its unrealdoes you insurer class it as a highway or trackdoes your 3rd party cover you for EUwill your insurer happily pay out but expect you to reimburse them?the variables lsit goes on and on.I think the simplest thing to ascertain is.....Get it in writing from your provider if the Ring is included/excluded from your policyIf its is included get a full rundown of what it covers you for i.e. armco/personal injury etc etcif it doesnt then you are driving the ring un-insured and so are liable for armco/track down time/other drivers cars/personal injury/emergency services/your own vehiclethink thats as simple as it could ever be put?? Jamesr_VR6 0
PS:From what ive read track day cover also has variables. If it is a private session on the ring it is classed as a "track day" and therefore the insurance will cover youif it is however a "public day" the track cover wont cover you as they deem it to be a public highway during this periodTALK ABOUT 101 CATCH 22'S!!!!!! craggsy 91
A closed session on a UK track is ok for most track day insurance....but as Andy says the ring is a public road and works different. You drive it at your own risk. Ive never had specific cover for the ring. I just be as careful as I can. You dont need to drive quick to have fun.Its about the craic
Ben Seabrook 4
You drive it at your own risk. very true mate I looked into insurance the first year and couldn't find anyone willing to insure it !!Its about the craigBit big headed mate but not far off the mark !! thegoth 5
does your 3rd party cover you for EUGet it in writing from your provider if the Ring is included/excluded from your policyall uk insurance is obliged to cover you for the minimum insurance requirements of all EU countries.you will never get it in writing that the Nordschlief is included. if pushed all uk insureres will say no. cabrioman 6
we goin to try and do a track walk this year i know most wanted to last year but didnt happen ???
andylaurence 0
You'd likely have to go to court to get your insurer to pay out for 3rd party costs. As for the track walk, it's not what it used to be. Although, having said that, it's still advertised on the Nuerburgring website as what it used to be.
thegoth 5
glad I did it when I did. that's as much as I'm hoping to spend all weekend.
Jamesr_VR6 0
im confused by the overtaking rule, i understand that you can only overtake on the left as its german road laws and overtaking on the right is technically "undertaking"but what about right hand bends?? your travelling alot faster than the guy in front and he takes the "optimum line" for that corner you cant over take on the left can you??
craggsy 91
Overtake on left side of the slower car regardless of corner. If they take the "racing line" then follow them round corner and overtake when on a straight
Jamesr_VR6 0
fair enough lol, seems gay to me but rules is rules
craggsy 91
Well if you overtake on th eright and clip the car your are overtaking on the right you will get done big time by the police
andylaurence 0
Gay it may be, but remember, it's not a race track. The overtaking thing works well because you know exactly where you stand - you can always move to the right because nobody will (should) overtake on the right. You'll see how well it works when you get out there.
cabrioman 6
if ur worried go out as a passanger for a few laps and ull see wot goes on ... i did this with jim and craig last year and gave me a good view on how things work ....
andylaurence 0
I'd second that advice. A passenger lap is the best way of learning what goes on out there and I'd recommend everyone new gets a ride before they attempt a lap. With Easter as early as it is this year, you may even get to build a snowman at Hohe Acht!
Jamesr_VR6 0
lol i understand the reasoning behind it, and i understand it makes life alot easierits jsut my opinion thats "its gay"and i wouldnt flaunt the rules jsut because i dont agree witht hemYAY!!!!! i love making snowmen aha, whenever it snows im at bloody work!!!
