ginger ninja 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Share Posted June 18, 2009 hello all I'm new to the owners club but have own a vr6 now for about a year and a half nearly 2 years and now have 2 of them one of which i have a problem with.unfortunately i parked my p reg vr6 up a week ago and ended up with a flat tyre due to a tyre problem, now having sorted that today i went to start the car to go out in it and it wouldn't start at all, i seem to have full power and the immobilizer seem to allow the ignition to all kick in but nothing from the starter any ideas welcome as I'm now at a blank without stripping the car down please helpthanx Link to post Share on other sites
CALICO 130 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Share Posted June 18, 2009 Have you tried tapping the starter while someone tries turning it over or put it in gear and rock it( not with the ignition on though) might just be seized solenoid on the starter Link to post Share on other sites

ginger ninja 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Author Report Share Posted June 18, 2009 i get a clicking from the relays and a buzzing from the primer unit and that's it.as for wiggling the key and banging the column i have tried them but i got a bit stressed with it and punched the wheel to Link to post Share on other sites

Andyaus 0 Posted June 18, 2009 Report Share Posted June 18, 2009 I had the same trouble with my mk2. turned out it was the battery that had lost just enough power not to turn the starter but it primed and all electrical items worked fine. try jump leads just to eliminate it. ginger ninja 0 Posted June 19, 2009 Author Report Share Posted June 19, 2009 i have now managed to strip the front end off and the starter motor to find that the braid between the solenoid and the starter was broke, now fixed that and its now clicking so it looks like a new starter nay be in order unless anyone has any other ideas Link to post Share on other sites
