golfrabbit33 0
is it an idea to have a north and south meet. i cant see people wanting to travel too far for karting ????just a suggestion ???i could get half a dozen drivers to make up the numbers my end.personally I think we should try and stick to one at the mo and we can always find a nice local campsite and turn it into an overnight thing !! :) as long as it's reasonably central it should be ok cool, that bug thing on the bottom of your post totally did me, tried to flick it off 3 times,(owned)

hvr6 88
Right have been on the case this morning and have a few options!!Most places gave me two options with some variation...1. GP where you get some time to practice 5-15mins then a number of laps to complete usually 5-10 karts on track at one time depending on size of the circuit. There is also a presentation to top 3 some charge extra for prizes most include it.2. Endurance where you get practice and a set time to compete ranges between 1 hour & 3 hours. In teams of 2 -4 and there is a presentation to the team that completes most laps at the end. Price for this is per team so brings the cost down a little.Below I've listed the prices of the 2 options GP then endurance per driver or per team. These are the prices I've been given on the phone, once we've decided and know numbers this could be haggled down I hope...Also next to some are any extras the place provides:Brentwood Essex 852m trackGP £48/driver Endurance £100/team Minimum 20Daytona Milton Keynes & Sandown Park & Manchester 1360m track @ Milton Keynes 900m @ SandownGP £60 – 80/driver various race formats Endurance £50 -80 /driver various race formats Bar & FoodBuckmore Park, Chatham Kent 1200m track£79/driver Mini sprint Laser tag £24.50 Bar & FoodVIP Rally Karting Malton North Yorks 800m trackGP £25/driver Endurance £120-150/team dependent on length & format of race Rally KartsBayford Meadows Sittingbourne Kent 1100m trackGP £50 – 80/driver depending on length of race (starting at 30 mins) Endurance £80 - £290/team 1.5 hours to 3 hours Lakeside Karting Thurrock Essex 900m trackGP £69/79/driver Endurance £99 - £269/team 1 hour – 3 hours Sutton Circuit Broughton Astley Leicestershire 600m trackGP £40/driver Endurance £80 – 160/team 1-2 hourGrand Prix Birmingham 1130m trackGP £45/50/driver Endurance 750m/1130m RSOC have events here good facilitiesKarting NE, Newcastle 1150m trackGP £37-45/driver depending on day of week Endurance £37-45//driverRevolution Karting East London 650m trackEndurance £65/driver 2-3 hours Rye House Hoddesdon Herts 950m trackGP £65/driver Mon Eve otherwise £75/driver Endurance £170/team Three Sisters Race Circuit, Ashton in Makefield Lancashire 1500m trackGP £55/driver Endurance £105/teamElk Racing Newark Notts 600m trackGP £45/driver Endurance £90/driver Lydd Kent 1240m trackGP £50 – 90/driver 5-9 laps Endurance £100- 250/driver 1 – 3 hours Matcham Bournemouth 720m trackGP£50/driver Endurance £120 -220/driver 2-3 hoursStretton Circuit Gt Stretton Leicestershire 800m trackGP £65/driver Endurance £39/driver Food £3.50 -8.50 set menu BBQ Paintball £20/pCampbell Circuit Polegate East Sussex 650m trackGP £50-60/driver Endurance £80-160/driver 1-2hours Thruxton Andover Hants 1100m trackGP £67/78/driver Tockwith York 1260m trackGP £45/driver Endurance £ 75-200/driver 1 – 3 hours Wildtracks Newmarket Suffolk 700m trackGP £35 – 50/driver 50-100laps Endurance £80-160/driver 1-3 hours Quads Rallykarts Motorcross Archery Fly Fishing Clay PigeonsI know theres quite a lot of info here so maybe people can post...where they are located? which ones they could get to? and if any of them seem a bit expensive or no go's :-)
rodney 17
well i have a thought or 2 on this.... I am London based so most midlands and south are ok for me... So are there two events North and South???I like the idea of a team as that way you get to have a good race and overtake people as well as have fun. The fact that you are in a team always adds an edge to it so that there is always a mixed ability rather than just those who have raced for a living vs those who have never had a go before... The endurance is always a giggle as you usually get to race for much longer than a gp event.I like the idea of a team price as that way you can set it up with mates so as the cost doesnt become to high and you have someone to keep you awake on the way home after..I have had a go on a couple of tracks and the chance to run on longer tracks is the way forwards every time...Finally how about the chance to suggest the top three then maybe a visit just to check the facilities is in order??? So fire up your spreadsheet...Daytona - Milton KeynesBayford - Kent (little steep tho' for 3 hours)BirminghamLydd (little steep tho' for 3 hours)seem the obvious choices to me although I have only read through once quickly....Anyone else with thoughts? hvr6 88
Cheers Rod,How did you know I had a spreadsheet? :-# I've tried to put a range countrywide to give people a choice & see what comes back, given the numbers I think this will be one eventtop 3 is a good idea... Birmingham guy said feel free to pop in and have a look, most of the websites are pretty good but a visit would be betterI think an endurance race is the way to go we can balance out the teams to avoid weight advantages ;-)
bungy 2
Endurance race in Birmingham as it is pretty much central, gets my vote.
Hairyarse 0
I'd go endurance, done before and more fun all round I reckon. MK always gets good reviews but I'm happy to travel most places, good excuse to drive the VR
spadam 7
endurance is a lot more fun and can drive for longer and compete in teams.

hvr6 88
cool I think maybe we should just go with Daytona Milton Keynes?I could give them a buzz and push them on price it's pretty central... this is what they say bout endurance seems pretty good :-)E N D U R A N C E R A C I N GTeam relay event for teams of 2-10 drivers in aLe Mans style race. After putting on race gear driversattend a drivers briefing followed by practice.Qualifying for grid positions may be incorporated intopractice. After practice each team nominates a driver tostart the race. Teams must plan strategy, deciding howmany driver changes to make and when to refuel. Racelengths can be tailored to suit your individual or grouprequirements in exclusive events. Races maybe run from30 minutes up to 24 hrs in length.
