Hi peeps

I have 8 x 17" Oz Super t's

I have had to put spacers on the back to stop them from catching on the coilovers. Is this normal when you have 8" wide wheels? or could it be that the wheels are the wrong offset( the wheels were on the car when i bought it so i have no info)

Any ideas!!!!?

8" rims are doable....depending on your tyre choice. Ideally you've got to go for a 205/40/17 otherwise you'll have problems with rubbing and the rims catching the arches.

Have the arches on your car been rolled at all?

Could be that your rims are slightly the wrong offset, but if you've got no problems since running spacers then i wouldn't worry.

Are you using hubcentric spacers, ie spacers that slot over the hub for extra stability?? These are a must if your using spacers.....not the usual halfords jobbies...heard some horror stories about them, and rims coming off!

On my wheels i am running 215/40 as R - Tec said that they could'nt strech 205 over the wheel!!?.

I am using the crap Halfords spacers which is now worrying :o .

I have had the arches rolled but the wheel only caught on the inside of the coilover.

I have booked the car into Stealth next weekso i will get them to check.

Thanks for your help Minty

You can get a 205/40 over an 8" rim, bit of a squeeze, but it can be done.

Try and sort yourself some hubcentric spacers if you can.....they're not cheap, about £100 for a pair, but much, much safer in the long run. Oh, and depending on how thick the spacer is, then it's also a good idea to get slightly longer wheel bolts ;)

No probs, hope you get it sorted.

i got 205/40/17 over my 8x17 wheels - no problems with catching on coilover - only on the arch :(

What's the offset on your rims?

i'm not sure - i'll try and see if its stamped on the rim somewhere?

It also catches on the front when turning corners sometimes!

I run 215/40/17 Toyo's ( the tyre make can make a hell of a difference!) on my 8x17 RH's with an ET35. Mine clear the coilovers both front and rear' date=' even when they are on max drop! (which is the only way to run it, lol!)[/quote']

Don't you get any catching on the front when turning?
