Changing boot glass

Good day,

My Golf VR6 have some rust on the boot lid and I have the chance of getting a Golf CL boot lid in very good condition and in the same colour. As mine's a VR6 it has the spoiler which is fitted with bolts through the glass. The CL boot glass does not have the holes for it so I was thinking of swapping the glass over but it looks a bit tricky.

Does anyone know how to do it, or am I better off holding out for a VR6/GTI spec lid?

Reckon it's gunna be bonded in, so would be a bit of a mission to do. Managed to get hold of a GTI boot lid anyway in near mint condition (same colour too) for a very reasonable price, so problem solved

could of just taken the spoiler from the vr boot lid and bonded it to the cl boot lid

insurance glass repair? say the heated bit has gone if you have one? keep meaning to do this as I've a poxy carphone arial in my rear screen

iv had CL glass fitted to mine, body shop did it when they painted it... extra 40quid i think...

dont think insurance wil pay up for that, needs to be cracked or broken

oh someone told me they would... have to break it carefully then with a big sheet on the parcel shelf

Heating element would be fixed with a special metal based paint to repair the breaks. So that isn't a plausable reason for them to splash out for you.
