J5KE F 0
I didnt even finish school, left home to work at 15.. been wrokin ever since..Not that i disagree with education but it want right for me..The university of life cannot be beaten
bungy 2
agree with Bungy here' date=' same with GCSE's etc.... qualifications get you your first job, experience gets you every job after that![/quote']I totally agree with education but in my experience I would choose the guy with common sense over the one bursting with "intelligence" every day of the week. Some of the most gifted engineers i've come across have very few "paper" qualifications and I truly believe it is because they think things through in a different way. I am however pants at admin and wish I'd concentrated more at school. I did leave school with nothing but have quite a collection of qualifications now. I'm not trying to play down a degree but there are lots of pointless ones out there now. Just my opinion.
VRMatt 0
I've done some carpentry jobs in the offices of very intelligent people (qualifications as long as your arm etc!). When I've working and can overhear conversations or talking to the people myself I'm shocked by the stupidity or lack of common sense these people show *-) Amazing!
Jamesr_VR6 0
My ops director has qaulifications hanging on his wall, but he cant do his job.He wanted to send a lorry from Mansfield to Bristol to collect some pallets of stock instead of sending one from plymouth,...im no geography teach but i can tell you which one would of been cheaper!!!! vr6binks 0
i prety much failed school, i aint got the most brains in the world but im a hands on person, i work for a marine drilling company which involves hard work and a lot of commonsense which is very important i mean one little slip up can result in loosing your foot or hand or getting crused my metal pipes !! where as my brother is very intelligent and he is a teacher but he hasnt got any common sense what so ever, and his stupidity shocks me some times, like he thought that his new focus 1.8 would be better on fuel than his old fiesta 1.3 !!! I'm not trying to play down a degree but there are lots of pointless ones out there now. Just my opinion.I p1ssed about in school, left with 2xD's and 2xE's at A-level. Went to uni and did Quantity Surveying & Construction Cost Management. Did a year of it, had fun and failed some of it! Started the second year and repeat some of first year, realised it was utter gash and wasn't what i wanted to do so started working. Now i am a Technical Officer (Engineer) for a rail engineering company, that's right i build railways so stick to the roads!!! I get paid fairly well, have a company vehicle, mobile, laptop, 3G card, sat nav, digital camera all given to me by the company. I get decent bonuses and they are relatively flexible with time off. Dropping out of uni was the best thing i ever did as my mates who finished the course are all temping or flipping burgers (not that there is anything wrong with that but not what they trained for 3yrs to do).I feel sorry for those guys who have been to uni and cant find jobs, must be a real kick in the nuts. I blame the government though for pushing further eduction so hard after GCSE's.
vr6binks 0
when i say old fiesta its R'reg and his focus is X'reg, i keep asking him for a race but he aint keen ! lol ! mind you i have given him a death ride in my vr6, he had one hand on the roof handle and his other hand on the seatbelt telling me to slow down ! it was hilarious !!!
