Totally dead vr

I've been having problems with my vr for quite some time now with it cutting out randomly, but the other week it finally cut out and wouldnt start at all.The problem now is neither i nor the aa can get a reading from the ecu through vagcom etc. and through testing components all roads seem to lead back to ecu trouble.

Does anyone know of anywhere that i can get my ecu tested or of what ecu i can use to replace mine with as i cannot find any with the exact same part number as mine:

021 906 258af

I can find ones that match everything bar the last two letters and do not know their significance as to how interchangeable they are.

My vr is a 92 obd1 on a dizzy so i presume any ecu out of a coilpack car will not work and the same goes for automatics, but will the other ecu's that are available for dizzy cars work.

If anybody has any ideas that would be excellent
