Hi all recently bought a used milltek catback for my golf vr6 got it fitted and i dont think it sounds right. It kind of sounds a bit tinny until the car warms up and even then it dont sound to me like it should?

I dont know if its me or what as ive heard everyone else to be happy with their milltek but what could possibly be the problem? to be honest the garage who fitted it didnt have a clue but it looked to me like they fitted it right as i kept a beedie eye on them.

Pls anyone with a milltek that can help out a dubber in distress :^)

Daft question, was it sealed properly?

To me that sounds like the exhaust isn't sealed correctly and it is leaking at 1 or a couple of places, hence why you have a tinny sound.

My decat isn't sealed properly on the long pipe to the rear of the car, but as it's used and driven, it warms and the seal is increased by the exhaust ma expanding slightly by the heat of the exhaust gasses.

Get it onto a ramp or into the air on stands....

Pull the exhaust segments apart and use gungum or exhaust sealing paste around the joining and mating surfaces...don't be spareing either. Slide them back together properly and tighten the clamps.

Jobs a gooden.

Clamps generally just make sure the sections don't fall apart, good seals are made with sealant/paste and clamps add to the security and slightly to the seal.

Old clamps generally shouldn't be used or they should have used the size/exhaust specific clamps.
