Sump Guards - Please register interest

Recommended Posts

I have a contact that has paid for the CAD program for a VR6 sump guard.

It fits Golf Mk2 VR6, Golf Mk3 VR6 and Corrado VR6.

It's made of alloy, and is 5mm in thickness, and allows access to the sump plug without having to remove the guard.

3 Guards are already made up, I've already had one for the Corrado.

Manufacturing is not cheap, so the price would be around £150 - £170 + P&P, costs may be cheaper if we can secure a cheaper manufacturer.

Please register your interest here if you would like to commit to purchasing;

Thanks.

Pete

If you are close enough to worry about bottoming out surely the guard will catch all the time. Would it not be better to take the sump off and weld a 4mm alluminium plate inside the sump to retain your clearance but get the safety margin. I don't know much about these things but sounds feasible. And the fabrication is possible.

yeh that is true in a sence, but it does mean if you catch somthing its going do dent/cut ur sump gueard before your sump, but i do like the idea of having somthing inside the sump. I heard r32 sumps are shallower and fit the vr6 lump? done know how true this is though?

Having destroyed 2 sumps already, I'm all for these- would rarther catch a sump guard and smacking the sump open, even if something was in the inside of the sump, you could still crack the outside and loose oil.

I had the R32 sump, they are made of alloy, and crack a hell of a lot easily - They are a little shallower - See here:

These will bolt up to the rear holes that are in front of the rear subframe mounts and up too the front crossmenber (needs drilling) and mounts around the front mount

They have been made wider to cover the sump plug and make them stronger

More holes can be made to allow oil feeds etc

Feed back welcome
