veedubyah 0
The abs/brakes on my 97 highline have a problem, makes a strange springy, boing kind of a sound ,occasionally, when driving down the road and sometimes whilst braking, the brake disc feels through the brake pedal as though it is like a cheese grater an the pedal tries to throw your foot off. Been to dealer to diagnose the fault, had two faulty abs sensors at the front, had those replaced but yet this fault is still there. Abs light on all the time (yellow) and the bulb has now blown, brake warning indicator on dash now comes on to warn of this fault and stays on.

kaptainkernow 0
I'm sorry to sound like a dumb-ass, but what is VAG COM? I'm new to VR ownership.
Ben Seabrook 4
i presume you have checked all the pads and discs for wear and any signs that one might be damaged mate ?to the above question - vag-com is a computer program that you can use to diagnose faults
veedubyah 0
Hi Ben, yeah i've had new disc's an pads fitted an this problem was happening before they were replaced like. Had new abs sensors fitted, but hasn't cured the problem. The yellow abs light used to come on an it would stay on , and thus, the bulb has blown and the handbrake/warning light on the dash now comes on.Been to the stealership twice, and it still comes up with faults with the front sensors (which they've already told me to replace) and nothing 's come back with regards to a faultcode with the abs pump. What fault code would vag-com come up with if it is the pump causing this problem, do you know please? And is that your car in the pic on your post, looks really nice and clean mate. Ben Seabrook 4
ah ok cool just in case it was a knackered disc casuing the problem ! well had a prob with my abs and it turned out to be the pump pretty much after going through what you have done - I think we went into the specific abs section on vag-com if I remember correctly and also think it also only showed up when the car was running mate iirc Yeah that is my car and thanks very much for the comment much appreciated mate
veedubyah 0
Thanks for your help there mate, i'll pop it back to vw and get them to properly look at it. They put the vag-com into the obd2 port but i've read somewhere that the abs diagnostic port is under the rear seat and they've not looked at that. Am i right or wrong on that? Your paint looks really clean, mine is looking pretty weathered like could do with a full respray if i'm honest like, arches have got bit rust on em and the driver side sill starting to go on mine. You know of any decent places i can take it to for a respray.
craggsy 91
All system scans are done thru the OBD port in the dash
veedubyah 0
Thanks for that info craggs.
Ben Seabrook 4
as Craig says all scans are done through the port mate - we did mine ourselves but if VW have scanned it I imagine they would have checked the ABS settings. My paint ain't that good mate just a flattering angle !! as for re-sprays in your area I would check the dubgeneration website mate good Norfolk based club - loads of info
