Actually, sorry about this. I am now even more confused.

Am I right in thinking that the Golf is 3.33 and Corrado is 3.68?

So getting the G60 FD gear will give me 3.68 FD on my golf.

If this is the case then why does VR6Pete want a G60 FD gear if he already has a Corrado ? Surely he already has 3.68 ? Or was 3.68 on a Corrado a US thing ?

Please flame away if necessary, I am quite thick skinned :)

Yep, Golf and Corrado VR6 gearboxes = Identical :-)

Where you're getting your Corrado = 3.68 from is because A), the yank VR6 (aka Corrado SLC) got a 3.68 diff because it was only 2.8 and made schitt power due to the californian emissions crap....so the shorter gearing kept the 0-60 in line with the Euro 2.9 model......and B) Corrado G60s had the 3.68 diff :-)

Is the Corrado quicker to 60 than the Golf then?

Can't say I've ever compared them tbh!

The differences over the Golf are very minor mate. I doubt the extra cc plays a part, not when you're talking hauling 1300kg around! The main difference is the 2.9 has a bit more top end due to the intake manifold and VW increased the rev limit, so it's literally just hanging onto 2nd gear for longer, which probably pips the Golf's 0-60 time I guess?

The Corrado is more streamlined aswell to achieve it's 150mph top speed, or 146 or what ever it is, which may help in the 0-60 dash aswell I suppose!
