1990 1
The car just boiler over after i was sat in traffic for a while.I got some coolant and water from a petrol station and topped it up.It semed fine until i came to some lights and steam was pouring out from the bonnet, the warning light stayed off and the temp stayed at 90deg (oil & water) but at every set of lights the steam was there again. When i got home the light started to flash again so i poped the bonnet and i could hear what sounded like water dripping onto the manifold heat shield.Have i got a split hose? What do you think? warwickA2VR 0
isnt boiling over caused by lack of pressure in the system ie lowered pressure allowing the water to boil at lower temps (100degrees rather than 120 degrees or whatever it is suposed to be.) they always say to check the cap on ex tank as the seal goes bad sometimes. 1990 1
I've traced it to a split hose that goes from the head to the heater matrix, #32 at VAG
ukdub 0
that hose must be a weak point mine went and the same on a friends corrado. Plus its the only coolant hose that eurocarparts sell for the vr6
dubloke 4
i had the same pipe split on me on my way home from inters two years ago! thought i'd blown summat at first as the temp gauge went soaring and then big clouds of white smoke poured from the bac as all the coolant fell onto the hot zorst! i was giving it large at the time and concerned me a tad!
