Im thinking Auto so I dont miss 3rd which can happen even with the pro's in the class... The idea would be to put a shifter in place of whats there already so I am able to change gear at optimum torque rather than being lower down the range..Cheers for the info, i might just do it yet! Antihero1981 8 Posted September 28, 2009 Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 i am running 300bhp through my supercharged vento and auto box and no issues , i have uprated and put a sepeate gearbox cooler in to keep temps down but its quick , outran a 300bhp mk4 1gtiauto boxes are not as bad as everyone says , i have done 105k on orginal box!and overdrive is awesome! spindat45 0 Posted September 28, 2009 Report Share Posted September 28, 2009 I've not known VR auto boxes to last much beyond the 80/90k mark as said above, however as with a lot things on these cars, regular servicing and oil changes are essentilal. A well looked after engine and transmission (manual or auto will run and run. I'd personally have an autobox rebuilt before it went altogether.
