jambro 0
Hello lads/lasses. A proper newbee here im afraid, so here goes!!!Im in desperate need of some help and advice on fitting some nice Boxter S twists to my 1996 MK3, 3 door VR6. The rims are 17s and 7" wide up front, 8.5" at the rear ET55 front and 50 rear. Heres the problem! I know that the fronts will easily go on and not cause any rubbage etc, but what about the rears? Ive been told there too wide for the car, yet ive noticed people in the magazines and on the net rocking much wider wheels on the back of there MK3s! The tyres i was going to use would be 195/40 on the front and 205/40 on the back, which i think would give a nice stretch, would a 205/40 be too much of a stretch on a 8.5" BTW? Im gona use FK pcd adaptors, 20mm rear (giving ET30) 25mm Front (giving ET30) The car is gona be on coilovers too when i get round to fitting them, i want it nice and low, but not on the deck!So the question is, will the rears be ok? I know it must have been done again and again by you guys, but please can you advise on the problems im likley to run in to? I would roll the back arches but i really dont want to start pulling the arches etc. I also have the chance to buy another identical set of rims, so i can use 7" wide fronts all round! would that be easier!!!Sorry for all the stupid questions, but this is keeping me up at nite!!!!Cheers for your help. Rikki 2
Sounds like an ideal setup to me.....might need the arches rolling on the rear and may need 25 or 30 on the rear to space the wheel out enough as to not hit the shock. Personally i would orede a pair of 20 for the front and test them on the back!
h2olo 0
This is exactly what I am planning, the same wheels, sizes everything, spooky! I bought them this week, though not arrived yet :-( as soon as they do I am going to do some serious measuring to sort out exactly what adapters are needed, though RikkiVR6Supercharged's idea of getting the front adapter and trying it on the rear is a good one, just to make sure before splashing out on the wrong one. jambro 0
I tried the rears on with a 20mm PCD adaptor and there seemed to be enough space, but it was hard to tell without the correct ride height, tyres being on etc. I guess its trial and error. Was hoping that someone had done this before and could say, yes it works without too many nitemares, or dont do it as its loads of work to do.
