Worbs 0
Hi all im going to be supercharging my vr after xmas and i just wanted a bit of advice on things, my current vr lump is in a bit of a sorry state its done 176thou miles and im pretty sure the head gasket has now gone, for this reason would i be better of buying another lump and rebuilding, i want to keep the car on the road as much as possible really so i suppose the obvious answer would be to buy another engine and rebuild in the garage,When rebuilding what are the most important things i should do, i want to run as close to 300bhp as poss with a supercharger, will standard rod/pistons be up to this what would people suggest for rod bolts? standard ok or arp`s are needed for this kind of power, i haven`t a clue when it comes to vr lumps. just the must do things with these engines really. Thanks in advanceWorbs
craggsy 91
All I run on mine to get around the 300bhp mark is lower comp spacer and metal layered headgasket and ARP head bolts.Should be fine, Jim potter is running around 400bhpp and no more than that also. It is possible but always better to over engineer in the first place

What sort of charger/ pully size would i be looking at and what sort of boost levels would i need would i need an i/c or could i just run a water/meth injection, also mate what about fueling any upgardes needed in that department.Soz for all the questions just wanna get it right lol. craggsy 91
Well im running a rotrex with a 6 psi pulley at mo with no cooling. I run a rising rate fpr for fueling and also have a walbro 255lph in tank fuel pump.IC is really for when going big power, but water cooling would be a bonus to help keep boost. It all depends how deep your pockets are. TonyVRSC on here did run a vortech charger at 8psi and got same figures as me but on a 2.9 engine
