MrBen 0
I've just got home from picking up my new acquisition! Yes, it's yet another black VR6 on the scene! This one had a hell of a lot of money thrown at it by the first owner including Schrick manifold, AMD chip, Koni shocks, Eibach ARB etc etc. Sadly the second owner hasn't looked after it that well, so it's going to need a bit of work, but, then again, I didn't pay much for it! And it sounds faaaanntastic! Goes like a rocket too! So here's the first pics, I'll take some better ones once it's had a good clean! And no, those Beetle rims won't be there for long![ Edited ][ Edited ]
tinny22 11
it looks in good condition and it looks like you got lots of mods eg schrick manifold amd chip/koni shocks.saying the second owner hasn,t looked after it it looks great on the pics.save loads on all the mods.will cost me lots of money to put all that on my car

binliner 0
nice one... got probably the best mods for a VR already done but those wheels have to go!
chrisgbrindley 0
They are VW beetle wheels I dont like the exhaust either.Very tidy though you have done well.[ Edited Sun Dec 05 2004, 10:15AM ]
MrBen 0
Thanks for the kind words, I think I've done rather well, especially if you knew what I paid for it! The wheels will change soon - I might just paint them black for the rest of the winter and then get something nice come spring. The exhaust does look a bit ming, and I might see if it's possible to use the Magnex from my GTI. My girlfriend saw the car tonight and she looked at the exhaust and said 'But Ben, you're 27, not 18!' The pictures flatter it a bit, the paint is pretty flat, and it needs a few bits doing - both front fog lenses are smashed, one of the spots is cracked, one of the back lights has a crack in it. Plus bits like the exhaust is knocking (presumably a knackered rubber mount), the airbag light is on and won't reset, I suspect a dodgy connection between the steering wheel and column as it makes horrible scrapy noises! There's going to be plenty to keep me busy, if I can just stop driving it long enough to work on it!
MarkGolf 6
I swearrrrr I've seen that car! What area did it come from?
MrBen 0
Mark, he lives in Canterbury, but he sometimes works round here, in Croydon etc, so you may have seen him at some point.
Nerih 0
cheap first exterior mod?! get old style front splitters
six appeal 53
Well done MR.Ben, I'm presuming this is the one I chatted to Mk3Anni about baring in mind the bright yellow car parked behind in in the drive way!At that price is sounds like a steal!
MrBen 0
cheap first exterior mod?! get old style front splitters Don't you worry, I'll be ordering them tomorrow! Having come from a Mk3 GTI which had them as standard, the front end of this just looks so gay with the little splitters!Simon, yes that's the one Steve was talking about!
Nerih 0
yes, it looks like its tongue is hanging out like some sort of dog, my friend who has got a 16v gti late spec actually likes his front splitter!?! I thing it looks crap its too high. Maybe they changed it because the car had problems driving up on to drive ways. Even with a rather modest drop of 45mm all round my front splitter (deep one) scrapes the ground when i drive up on to my drive. if its not rubbin its not dubbin hehe. acf8181 0
doesn't look too bad...though pics can be decieveing i know (my vr6 looks mint in pics but is deffo not)whats your plans apart from splitter? (different alloys, non-chav exhaust, proper badges in correct places, different headlamps )
MrBen 0
acf, that's about right on the plans! The first things to do are making everything work properly, but once that's done alloys are first. I'l probably loose all the badges apart from VW, and not decided yet about the headlights, I actually quite like these!
MrBen 0
Here's some better pics, though it was starting to get a bit dark...[ Edited Sun Dec 05 2004, 11:36PM ]

MrBen 0
looks like u got a vdub meet going on in ur drive way' date=' shud av said we all would have joined in lol[/quote']That's mk3anni's parents driveway which we tend to use for working on cars as both of us have flats with no workspace! With Steve's and my VR's there, and often Steve's g/f's modded Mk3 CL, plus Steve's brothers Mk2 GTI and his company car a Mk4 TDI it can get a bit silly!!
MrBen 0
And a slight update, with debadged grille, new foglight lenses without the cracks, proper early spec front spoiler, and current OE headlights as I can't make my mind up on the twins! And, one in the middle of today's project - 'highering' the GTI - now all ready for some lucky person to buy...[ Edited Sun Jan 09 2005, 05:22PM ]
