Glyn Mk3 0
Does anyone else feel like their VR6 has terrible traction unless it is bone dry?? The amount of times I can feel the car losing grip around damp roundabouts is rediculous! Plus I had another run in with that bloody Teg on a straight and placed it in 2nd spins, 3rd it spins goddamit!! I have the standard Dunlops and 30mm drop on FK Editions/AK coilovers, any suggestions for improving my grip?
binliner 0
cornering I havent had any probs as yet but pulling away it spins all over the show unless you're careful
mk3anni 0
Quaif diff!!!
Eat this 2
i think the traction in all conditions is fantastic especially considerin the serious amount of torque the front tyres r bein asked to transmit to the road im runnin toyo t1ss atm 205/40/17 and have fk suspension
andy 0
I found mine excellent in the dry, pretty poor in the wet. Never a problem with aquaplaning but not too special pulling away especially in adverse camber situations. Had several 'moments' on roundabouts though but then I never had particularly good rear tyres so I'm a bit biased.
Scotty 0
Mines isn't good in the wet
MarkGolf 6
Drove my amtes 2.9 and that was loosing grip and understeering on roundabouts where his RX8 would be pulling away on the same roundabout. Think his tyres are worn though... Quite fun mind
acf8181 0
ok, i'm gonna disagree with everyone...MY VR^ HAS TRUELY AWESOME TRACTION, even in the wet.i bet the prob with every single one of you is your tyres...slap on a set of uniroyal rallye540's and you'll be amazed by the difference. when i drove my car with michelin pilots (were on my wheel when i bought them) it had mega poor traction, then put on another set of uniroyals (my originalwheels had them) and once again i had awesome traction.to put it inot perspective, i can use full throttle in first gear in the wet no probs. also, my girlfriends 75bhp polo has worse traction. binliner 0
are you on comission for uniroyal or something? lol

MarkGolf 6
I think it depends where you live , condition of roads and things! The roads round my way are sooo worn and greasy its untrue, my 1400 can spin in 3rd in some places! lol
six appeal 53
Don't really have a problem in mine, although I am running 215/40/17 Toyo's and FK Konigsports. Found the grip to be excellent, although if you really try to you can spin it up easily.
acf8181 0
i'm not saying you cant do wheelspins everywhere if you wanna...but considering the car has 180ft/ibs -ish it truely is amazing. and form having used other tyres on the vr6 i know for a fact tyres make the biggest difference to traction on the vr6. i do agree with mark though, we have pretty good roads down here (i think you're in windsor aren't you six appeal? so similar to me)...stoke on the other hand, all the roads are like ice rinks. Eat this 2
the roads r shite round here but in it is possible to plant it in 1st in th wet
Nerih 0
roads are shit, suspension is okay, wheels spin....need uniroyals...pzeros no good in wet.
andy 0
Gonna have to try these Uniroyals I think, managed to spin the rado's tyres up in third gear at 60mph last week, bit of a slimy road admittedly. It really must be a huge variation in road quality that causes these debates, some people absolutely rave about Toyo tyres yet other people wouldn't have them if they were free. acf8181 0
from what i've experienced the roads down south are much grippier (i'm comparing near london with stoke). it may be because we have a larger volume of cars using the roads they put more money into the surface they use.tarmac is a hugely complicated and scientific thing actually...for example the surface at silverstone has bits of glass in it! Nerih 0
thats why i keep getting punctures when ever i drive my F1 spare car at silverstone...oh my tyres cost about 90000 quid so im a little annoyed.
mark@vagworx 0
Well, i'm running Toyo's and Koni Coliovers, and mine still manages to spin in 4th gear at 5500rpm..........hmmmmm can't think why ?!?!?!
Coddy 0
Think yourselves lucky. My VR6 auto was an absolute pig in the wet. If you booted it the torque steer after gear changes sent it halfway across the other side of the road.
bazz780 0
my mate was giving her a test run, it was raining the roads were wet and he couldnt have chosen a more bendy route, pounded it all over the place in all gears not one slip or loss, stuck like glue!!! one thing.... dunno what tyres im running lol im sure they are dunlop at front dunno bout the back, think uniroyals

nickg123 0
Any FWD car with 175bhp in the Wet will Wheel Spin in 1st I don't care what anyone says about tyres - if your car is not spinning at all when flat out in 1st, there's something wrong with it - definitely can't be hitting the right BHP/Torque figures, it's just a matter of physics
