Vr6 driving shite, Changed MAF no difference

Recommended Posts

my vr6 golf has been running like a bag of spanners, its fine when you start up, becomes almost unresponsive, backfires now and again. shows up on VAGCOM as a idle speed problem, Read on here could have something to do with the MAF so i bought a new one, no change.

It is particuraly bad on the motorway when wanting to select a lower gear, the sound is almost a drone, the revs move up but no power. it is at times like driving a car with very bad turbo lag. Going through a rather large amount of petrol lately, when it drones, i get a very strong smell of petrol.

HT leads have been changed, coilpack is year old and just had a full service, any answers or suggestions to my dilema would be greatful, as im having to justify to my wife , why i have to spend X amount of money all the time on this blooming car. not my words, the words of my wife!!!!!!
