Lightened flywheel?

Is it a good idea to have the flywheel lightened when you are building a VRT or not? And has anyone done it?

On a N/A i can see it being a good idea to make it more revy, but on a VRT would it be over kill?

i got one on my vr worked ok when i had the charger on it reved up quicker .... no worries

They do also make it easier to stall as they spin up quicker and slow down quicker...but overall a good thing

i have read some info to the opposite for charged vr's of any kind.

saying the the extra/normal weight of the flywheel helps put the power down.

I have the Schimmel 9lb flywheel in mine and if the gearbox comes off again, the standard flywheel is going back in.

Yes light flywheels make the motor spin up quicker but the resultant vibration you get in return (more so with stiff mounts) doesn't make it worth it as a daily driver imo. And you usually get a bit of clutch judder with light flywheels aswell.

never had these problems maybe u need too check if there is an imbalance have it balanced with pressure plat

(some times with komplet engine rebuild we have pressureplate,flywheel and crank balanced together;)=

I had a lightened flywheel on my 1st charged Vr. Felt and spun up quicker, but not ideal when u can't put the power down!

Probably a good mod for n/a cars but f/I maybe not essential
