sadken 0
What would be the ideal tyre pressure for 205/40/17 tyres on my VR6 if I do mainly town driving and the occasional 50 mile motorway round trip once or twice a week?Regards and thanks for any advice.Mike
VR6Nat 9
I run either 30 front / 30 rear, or 32/32, but some people run 30/32, something along those lines is fine... :)
craggsy 91
Play about with them as you will find different pressures work for you.......mine vary on 16s from 36psi all round to 30/32psi

vr6 boss 0
pressure for 205 50 15 is 38psi front and 36psi rear 205 40 17 would be around the same if not higher. if you go too low you get tyre wear on the edges
spindat45 0
Sadken, I'd go for 32 psi all round for the type of driving you do.pressure for 205 50 15 is 38psi front and 36psi rear 205 40 17 would be around the same if not higher. if you go too low you get tyre wear on the edgesUnless you're carrying heavy loads, 38 and 36 psi sounds a bit high for everyday driving to me. I certainly wouldn't go any higher than that. Block treaded tyres with low profiles such as these will always wear on the edges even with the correct tracking and camber settings. Power steering and dry steering being the main causes. I have 205/40/17's on mine and I stick to 32 psi all round. I think i put 34 in when I was returning from Germany, 3 up with a boot full of tools. If you go too high the centre of the tyre treead can wear excessivly and your steering can feel too light, which is not a good thing, particulary at higher speeds. The ride will also feel harder as there will be less give in the walls of they already low profile tyres.Kevin
craggsy 91
I've had mine as low as 23psi on track
