Solid front engine mount

Recommended Posts

Would there be any advantages in torque if I was just to replace the front engine mount with a solid one? The engine twists backwards obviously to thought just the one would be ok, but still maybe not send as much vibration through the car as if they were all solid mounts.

Like the guys above I went for an VF solid front mount and new standard rear and gearbox mounts. A solid front engine mount won't increase torque in my opinion. It makes hard. acceleration feel a lot smoother as there is little or no movement from front of the engine. I'd definately suggest replacing the rear mount and gearbox mount with standard ones as they do take a hammering over time. These won't send as much vibration through the car as some solid mounts although I hear Vibra Tech mounts all round aren't as harsh as VFones.

Theres a guy on the mk2 vr6 forum who makes them for various engine/car configurations, also on ebay. I think i paid about 30-35 quid for the front. Im not 100% sure but i think the standard rears are around the same, been a while since I changed them.

Good point above from Spindat-dub about changing the rears: Makes a noticable difference if they are getting a little tired.
