Does anyone know if i can just buy a set of rear door handles and fit them straight on. Also will handles from any other model fit straight on. ( Polo, Golf mk4, Passat etc) Cheers
Ben Seabrook 4
Polo ones will go on but take a bit of work and the locking mechanism can go wrong with them but I believe you can just buy rears to go on the front mate yeah

jesterwalker69 0
Polo ones will go on but take a bit of work and the locking mechanism can go wrong with them but I believe you can just buy rears to go on the front mate yeah Yer i have Polo mk4 rear door handles on mine. Only once (touch wood) did the passenger door get stuck. This was down to the fact the hook on the handle had slipped off the latch. You can avoid this ever happening by bending the latch slightly so it sits in the hook better but it takes a bit of work. Even though its "just a latch" it is relatively thick and space is very limited. Heating it up and bending it slightly would probs be your best option to avoid snapping it.I personally couldn't be ars*d with any of the above lol and left mine and like i said, its never happened since, touch wood! Ian D 1
I have just got a pair of rear door handles to fit, only thing worrying me is that at some point someone has removed the drivers side door lock pin, and replaced it with an LED! I want to keep the pins, incase I get locked out, can always get in through the boot afterall!
theblueflash 0
saw a 58 plate 5 door polo in the scrappy today. dont suppose they would fit for this purpose?? or are they too new???
Dazdub 0
I dont think they will fit mate. Like you said too new. You should try the mk4 polo ones. Done mine and they make a hell of a difference. You can get a pair on e bay for about 16 quid or so.
theblueflash 0
ok. will look into that. was hpoing to pick something up his week. car is int he bodyshop next week for an overhaul and would be nice to have some 'lockless' handles colour coded too.
Rikki 2
Can anyone explain what you actually have to bend on the olop handles....is it the hook on the handle or the rod in the door ????
Dazdub 0
Depends on the year of the car mate. I think if its before 96 you have to bend the rod in the door but if its after 96 they should just fit straight on. Mine did anyway. Just dont let battery go flat
Rikki 2
Sweet already got rears in the front!
