Lost keys for my VR6 no idea what to do now

Recommended Posts

Hi there fellow VR6 people. I have a problem.

Got back from a meeting today and locked up the car as normal with the black rectangular alarm fob and went to a couple of shops and then went back to work.

End of the day comes and I can't find my keys...anywhere.

Checked back at the bookies, model shop and newsagents I had been to but no keys handed in. Checked Police Station...not handed in there.

Any idea what I do now to get my car back?

It is a 1996 VR6 Highline.

I used to open it was a black rectangular fob with a round button on.

Once in the car, I had to wave about a circular fob just under where you insert the key until the red light goes out in the rop righ hand cornder of the dash near the windscreen, then the car can be started. (Standard alarm I guess)

What are my options?

(Apologies if this has been posted in the wrong placer but I wasn't sure where to post it)

Here is the fob...it is a Conlog but I also have a small circular con-sized fob to the unimmobilize the car itself..where would I get that from?0 And the spare key I have has a tag on it which says 'MIT Transponder'...does the key need to be 'near' the fob for it to be able to open the car door as I couldn't open it earlier with this?

Thanks ,for any replies

so does your spare key not unlock the doors still??

the immobiliser can be removed but your spare key should still open the lock....???

I know m8, frustratinng..the bloody thing just will not turn in the lock!

Had a key cut from the dealership earlier and that didn't work either!

it seems a bit weird to me that your spare key will not open any of the 3 locks... surely even with an alarm the key overrides that?? Does the original spare key turn in the lock but not do anything? or does it not fully turn?

The only other option would be to get a locksmith out... obviously they wont be able to pick the lock as the key itself doesnt work.... but they can use a tool called a lemon popper, which is ok, but if they do this just be very careful that they dont damage your car... you should be looking between £45 and £50 to get the door open, then if you need keys cut and recoded it could be a lot more...
