Big Ian 1
twice ive had this bad feeling now ;(when ever ive hit some standing water, my VR6 just lift's right on top of it and aquaplanes! first time i was running 215/45/17 now i'm running 205/40/17.ive had many car's running wider tyre's and never once felt any of them lift so much on standing water, i was'nt even driving hard or fast .. doing about 45 on a 60.anyone else experiance this?ive just fitted new front top mount's and i had checked all the other suspension & steering part's at the time & every thing was OK.cheer'sIan
peter.h 0
most of the time its down to the make of the tyre and the tread pattern. i had some expensive avon's on and never aqua plained but then when i changed wheels it was duran budget tyres and was terrible in the water. golfrabbit33 0
lol, yeah , all the time, if you run rubber band tyres you suffer in the puddles
bungy 2
Your tyre tread pattern is most likely at fault. As a precaution though, have you checked to see if they are directional and fitted the right way round?
rodney 17
people do forget no matter how your car is set up there are still 4 contact patches the size of your boots touching tarmac. What are you running on? Big name brandes or cheapies?
Big Ian 1
just double checked and there running in the right direction .. i did have brand new 215 Yoko/Parada tyre's fitted untill last week, which when i think about it they were alway's bad in the wet. i swapped my wheel's last week for a set of TT comp's, and the 2 i put on the front are a fairly budget brand "nankang" think i'll be ordering a set of Toyo's pretty soon
rodney 17
you will notice the difference once you put a decent set on.. Not sure who else do that size but worth looking at others. After all they're what keep you alive...

J5KE F 0
I have found this with certain tread patterns.. even more so in the recent ice! 888's where cack! but good on the track.. my other vr's tyres are some 3rd worldy make, but have a good cut and where absolutely fine. (this was moving cars around my compound and NOT on the road, on snow and ice and not water!) but i'm sure the principal of surface area and grooves come into play, just exaggerated on ice.? The Monk 50
Jake, I seem to remember at billing that you n chaz drove from the pod n the rain on slick 888's.Must have been a laugh
bungy 2
I know the tyres you are on about and believe it or not they are awesome track tyres. Nangkang are made in the same factory as Yokohama's. If you look at them they have quite a severe track tread. I had a set on my Saphire Cosworth for track only and changed wheels / tyres for normal daily type use. If they are the same as I had they will be awesome in the warm and dry, but they are not a winter tyre.
