Nerih 0 Posted December 15, 2004 Report Share Posted December 15, 2004 Guys, i'm totally gutted, today i was forced up on to the kerb by a bus driving on the small country road to my uni....i kerbed one of my rims, fortunately its not TOOO bad (yeah right i feel sick). and only 2 days before we break for the christmas hols too .I was wondering if there was a service that did alloy wheels cheap, collect, deliver.Its just the one, guess i'll have to run on the spare for a bit.do you think i can sand the edges with really fine wet & dry or will it ruin the diamond cut finish.forgive the dirty ally i cleaned the outside so u can see the scrapes easily. www.cranfield.ac.uk/~ww080720/IMGP0298.jpg [ Edited ] Link to post Share on other sites

dubloke 4 Posted December 16, 2004 Report Share Posted December 16, 2004 tbh i would get it properly refurbed! i have a set of theses wheels and the finish is not diamond cut as far as i know, that reseved for polished lips and the like! there are some pretty nasty scrapes to the edge of the rim there, and if doing it yourself, you may end up with a flat edge to the rim and it would stand out. go too far and you may not get it refurbed anyway. i reckon on about 35-40 pounds to get it done properly, which, considering the cost of a new one, is quite cheap i think! You're problem would be getting an exact colour match so I'm with dubloke, just get it refurbed Link to post Share on other sites

Nerih 0 Posted December 16, 2004 Author Report Share Posted December 16, 2004 yeah, the main issue is that its a natural alloy finish which, i'll clean them today and see what happens, The main problem for me is that becuase of the finish (diamond cut) rubbing the edges down will take the mirror like finish off the edge.My solution?I'm buying a new alloy....i really am fucking pi$$ed off more than words can say...arsehole bus drivers should NOT be allowed to drive down narrow roads.p Link to post Share on other sites
Geastb 0 Posted December 16, 2004 Report Share Posted December 16, 2004 I have the exact same problem on a couple of my rims - i've got a mirror polished rim but i've managed to acuire a couple of scrapes and missing chunks - i'm going to wait till spring and get them refurbed properly.
