craggsy 91
So when you reset the codes did the ABS one come back?If so then a rear sensor is needed
b16dev 0
i click auto scan, and after the abs code comes up "this functions requires vag com to be registered etc....." so i click on" clear all dtc""professional grade interface required.
b16dev 0
right ive been out in the car,the brakes were fine for a few miles, then the brake pedal was really stiff, thats when the brakes lock up, when breaking hard...would a sensor cause all this?
thegoth 5
a bad sensor would cause the ABS to fail so that the brakes can lock up. however it does sound like there may be something else wrong if the feel of the brake pedal changes.
b16dev 0
ive scanned about 5 times tonight, once the abs hydraulic pump code came up, its not coming up now... is this the sort of thing i need to be replace?http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-VENTO-GTI-VR6-REAR-ABS-SENSOR-C481_W0QQitemZ190274945481QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item2c4d4541c9
Ben Seabrook 4
have you changed the abs pump recently mate ?
b16dev 0
na mate not changed pump, ive only put a induction kit, and new coolant bottle on...
Ben Seabrook 4
have you had a look at the pump to see if there is any leaks or any of the pipes are loose ? just that the pedal thing sounds exactly like what happened to mine, I spent the money on replacing a sensor (which also came up) but it turned out to be the pump. b16dev 0
is the pump below the coolant bottle?
Ben Seabrook 4
yes mate below and to the left, check all the copper pipes running into it and it does have a bleed nipple on it too to get rid of any air in the system which could be causing your dodgy brake pedal prob
b16dev 0
right cheers mate ill have a look in the morning, and ill let u know how get oncheers
Rikki 2
If your obd2 (95/96 on) under your rear seats is where the abs sensors plug into the loom. Swap them from left to right (small square 2 pin plugs) then check vagcom again....if the fault still says left your ecu under the abs pump needs probably needs replacing ! If it switches to the right its just the sensor usually!
b16dev 0
i swapped the sensors over, and the fault changed to the right speed sensor.. so im assuming the left sensor is the problem..is it worth my while trying to clean it up? or should i just replace the sensor?also i cant seem to find the bleed nipple on the abs pump.. where abouts should i be looking?
craggsy 91
Yep sensor is buggered if it swapped over
Rikki 2
Obd2 doesnt have a bleed nipple. Its done with vagcom. Just change the sensor for th3 25 that it costs. All mk3 ones are the same just round or square plug!
