motocrossmad 0
Hi all,If i have the misfortune of sitting in traffic in my golf for a long period of time the performance seems to drop off and throttle response feels 'lazy' once i get moving again, as if something is being affected by under bonnet tempriture. The car generally feels more livley just befor it is up to temp alsoany ideas guys?
spindat45 0
Once you get on the move and air is flowing into the front of the car is it the same? Do you have an exposed air filter like a RamAir or K&N type filter? If so, it sounds like heat soak from the engine to me and is a common side effect of the engine sucking in the hot air that's being circulated by the fans under the bonnet whilst in traffic. Not much you can do apart from fitting a cold air feed or a cold air induction kit which can be a little expensive and a lot more subtle sounding. I have seen a few modifications to the standard airbox which allow cooler air to feed the filter. You can also fit a shield which keeps the cone filter seperated from the rest of the engine when the bonnet is closed.Kevin
motocrossmad 0
No i have a standard airbox with a k&n panel filter and the cone removed,But yeh it is as if that is the problem, but it can;t be with the standard box?
terrorste 0
I had the same problem about a month ago with my pipercross induction kit, i gave it a good clean and a tiny re oil and also cleaned the MAF and its a lot better now! how old is the pannel filter? H13VYY 0
it's the under bonnet hot hair that is responsible for that. im sure everyone would agree, when you take off in the morning in the cold when the engine is cold (no hot air) the vr6 seems alot more responsive. thats not to say that your vr6 should change dramatically once it's warmed up. motocrossmad 0
the filter is not even 2k miles old, the maf is also the same age, its puzzeling me somewhat, its only dramaticallt affected when its been sitting running for ages, it feels the same as when the cam position sensor failed, but that was replaced then
