legvw 0
That belt also drove the water pump!Could have done any sort of damage, with that sort of heat.
RAPgolfvr6182 2
as above ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ belt might have come off because the water pumps broke that would be first place to check. with the heat it could do anything to the engine you could have blown the headgasket or you might be lucky. shail 0
The pully in the tensioner could have seized, Causing the belt to come off. With the belt off, the temp would have gone up anyway, so your water pump may be ok, but obviously check anyway.

Mul6 0
Seen the thread above for changing the serpentine belt, dont how i missed that like, started yesturday evening but weather got the better of me and again tonight, but via the thread realised that its the tensioner pulley thats fell to bits, and it just unbolted from the tensioner, is it just as simple as bolting the new pulley back on, ive oredred it from VW £22 coming tomoz, other than that just need to clean off the excess belt that was left in the grooves on the other pulleys nightmare, got the air box pretty easy, if everything goes as it has so far i would recommend that anybody thinking of changing this belt do it buy them selves, ive found it easy going so far.
