intermitant non starting

Recommended Posts

hi ho, ivebeen having a few probs of late starting the shed..

its fine for weeks on end and then will decide not to start. so tonight i had the rac out because yet again , it didnt start.

we traced a broken wire feeding the starter solnode, being smart arses, we fixed the wire and gues what ... it didnt work.

wierd thing is , if you jump it from the battery by flashingg a wire direct to the soliniod it starts ????

so anyway , the battery then went flat, and after we jumped the battery and flashed the terminal on the starter it fired up.

im hoping it was a combination of the two .. flat battery and broken wire, but i guess we will find out soon. im gona grab another battery and go from there ( battery measured 6v when cranking , but 11.6 when static )

any more ideas as to what it may be ?

is there a relay on the ignition side, between the switch and starter soliniod.? fuel pump and everything primes , just wont fire..

replaced last year, starter, ign switch and a few other bits.#

im stumped

When running your voltage should be over 12v across the battery. Not sure if that could relate to a bad earth somewhere.

There will be a transistor switch or relay between the ignition switch and the circuit for the starter solenoid
