bigvw 0
The "stig" wrote a book which is in hardbook and tells how he reached F1 but as usal he couldn't get sponsership so had to give up. I can't remember his name, but an old friend bought the book so I'll give him a bell and see if I can borrow it. He was in his late 40's early 50's, I think. Dont know if this is the "old" or "new" one though
RALA 0
Come on Han. You can tell us. We won't tell a sole. Honest.........
acf8181 0
perry mccarthy is the main stig, but others do step in from time to time...such as julian bailey. i don't think damon has ever done it, or johnny, as they don'#t tend to throw cars around in the same way.though the guy in the f1 car yesterday was someone else who was up to date with current f1 technology, and renault technology at that...i'm pretty sure it was renault tester franck montagny. if you noticed he was wearing an arai helmet as opposed to the simpson one the stig usually wears [ Edited Mon Dec 20 2004, 07:31AM ]
Slim 0
It's not Perry McCarthy anymore, he was relieved of his duties at the end of the last series as he started telling people it was him. It someone different now, although I'm not sure who exactly.

acf8181 0
i still reckon that it is perry...the driving style is exactly the same. just cause he says its not him doesn't mean that he ain't lying;)mcnish is contracted to audi so unlikely.
MrsC 0
it aint perry no more!!!!
nickg123 0
Would Perry handle an F1 car ok?It's gotta be someone from the last 5 years or so i'd say? I was told it was Johnny Herbert, but nobody seems to agree with that now hehe

bell 0
i reckon theres a few stigs one bein mansell another bein damon hill otherwise how would he drive the f1 car on this weekends top gear???? lol
acf8181 0
trust me bell that was neither of those two driving the f1 car...you can't just hop back in and thrash one like that. especially as they're so out of touch with current f1 technology. damon hasn't driven an f1 car since '99, and mansell last drove one in '96, and f1 technology moves on at a very fast pace. Eat this 2
mansell did a bloody good job of jumpin back in 1 in london he jumped in and did far and away the best wheelspin apparantly he was fookin awesome hehe and i think he did some showboat racing in a 2 seater which he crashed into another 2 seater cuz the other guy wasnt racin and braked early lmfao[ Edited Tue Dec 21 2004, 08:01AM ]
acf8181 0
yeah mansell did ok im london and in the minardi twoi seater staged raced at donningon (where they were pootling round anyway - yet he still manged to climb over alonso! lol), but the guy on top gear was properly going for it. i doubt mansells been keeping his fitness in check enough for that.
