Consumption when using water injection

Recommended Posts

hi , well depending what you want to use the system for.......and what are you running?

if your running a standard vr6 with a few mods then no point running a charge cooler , and water injection would help with temps but dont think you would get much gain on a standard set up

if you running a supercharger/Turbo then both are pretty handy

i am in the process of installing both , but installing a chargecooler is not a easy job and can cost a bit....

charge cooler set up - £400 +

water injection - £200+

to get the best gain out of water injection you would need to mix it with Methnol/ect which can be costly if using it every day.I am installing mine with a switch so it can be turned on/off when needed ect .

Chargecooler is a closed system so you dont use any water once filled up.Water injection you would use 4L every few days depending on nozzle size ect

check out the water injection forums and they can answer most questions.....

please see extract from supercharging faq's thread....

There are things to do which can aid with reliability lifecycle of the system. Water injection. This adds a mix of water and methanol to help reduce the knock count on the cam sensors. This is more noticable in the summer when temperatures will be higher. (should drop emmissions in theory also)

System aquamist 1s is all that is required

System cooling mist150 is all that is required

Both again appear to work. The main decision I see it is

a) cost and B) location.

Cooling mist is cheaper and has a larger pump which is difficult to mount in the engine bay due to its size. However if you are going to put a setperate tank for the water in the boot then this works well as the pump is self priming which the aquamist is not. (without modifications) (Note water tank may become pressurised).

The aquamist seems to be more advanced and is a lot smaller and suits fitment in the engine bay using the washer bottle.

I think it is important to add a float sensor for level detection to ensure no damage occours. There are comprehensive write ups on their sites.

In order to only fill the tank up when you fill up the petrol tank you are looking to have a water tank in the region of 5-10% of the fuel tank capacity. So as the VR6 tank is 60litres to the brim (as I understand it) then something in the 5litre range should be great!

There are discussions on retarding the timing when fitting these systems. I do not see this as a requirement at this time!

From what I've read the holts screenwash is the best to use as it contains methanol already. (that's If you're usin the washer bottle as your resevoir though)

I'd also heard that you'd probably use 5 litres a month if you were using it as a daily - someone else can confirm I'm sure!

and it is consumption he want´s too know

he has a rotrex charger on the car putting out around 260,he want´s a bit more boost that´s why he looking for an idea for cooling
