Best Oil To top up VR6 with

I had a service 6 months ago which included an oil and filter change.

I checked the oil today and it is at the bottom of the 'safe' range. Would the Castrol High Mileage oil they sell in Wilkinsons be ok to top it up with?

i cant see any reason to buy an oil for a high mileage car if there is wear in your engine the oil wont fix it buy a decent grade of oil recommended for your car

depends how many miles you have done in the 6 months but why not give it another service i change mine every 6000 miles or 6 months anyway

Thanks for the tip on the Synta Silver...where can I get some?

My car has done only 2500 miles since the last service 4 months ago.

My driving consists of a daily 3 mile each way trip, the odd 60 mile round trip every week or so and a bit more local driving at the weekend.

It is a '96 Highline with 107250 on the clock.

Quantum Synta Silver from VW and maybe Eurocar Parts. GSF sell Fuchs which is the next best thing ( or identical depending on who you listen to). Semi Synthetic 10/40 IIRC

How about this stuff:- FUCHS XTR SEMI SYNTHETIC 10W40 OIL 5L

They have it in GSF (Which are around the corner from where I live) and it is £14 for 5ltrs.
