some may have seen i posted in the transmission forum that my clutch was wearing and the gear selector assembly came apart. so for the last two weeks ive been waiting patiently for the chance to get cracking on the other parts of the car i wasnt happy with. picked the car up today. new clutch in. feels really good now.

1st job was to find wiper/tow eye trim and get rid of the non o/e rear clusters. seals were too small and letting some water in. thanks to motorbreath for the standard rears. think it looks a lot better already

another job that needed doing was the rear bumper. the mountings had broken and it was hanging a bit low. so i took it off and found both mounts broken.

bit of p40 each side sorted that problem

robbed some more dash parts from the scrappy. (still hunting for that heated seat switch)

also had time to change out the door handles for some chrome ones. not sure they fit in with all the plastic but they' might grow on me (thoughts??)

thanks for the comments guys. changed the boot.passenger seals this week which has cut wind noise and stopped a lot of moisture getting into the boot. i stanrted removing the plastics from the pillars and roof this week. currently halfway through. here are some before shots. pics dont really show how dirty the lining and plastics are. dirty fingers and smokers to blame here! i had to use some harsh cleaning products to get them back to the original colour. shame really as im changing them to black

i also got round to fixing the lining where it has broken and was very weak around the centre console. i used some p40 on this and rubbed it back until i could fit the brackets in again

will post pics this weekend of plastics and roof lining, hopefully finished. i ended up using autoglm black dye on the lining and halfords matt black spray on the plastics. which probably isnt ideal as it may scratch off but they dont see a lot of action and its easy to quickly blow it over.

progress stalled a little this week waiting for more dye to turn up as i ran out trying to finish off the lining. will get round to that this weekend as well as giving the last few panels a polish and taking some pics as she's now going up for sale. madness i know but i should have waited a month or so as i always wanted a black VR. finally got one today from B7DVR. which means that the blue VR will have to go. stupidly paid out on a few uneccesary jobs thinking id keep her but nevermind. nice and clean ready for the next owner.
