Schrick VSR is it worth it?

Recommended Posts

lots of people say there not worth the money but until you have been in a car with a shrick you cant really make judgement it is a lot of money if buying new but apparently they make the car more responsive and driveable its not about bhp its about torque not been able to see the difference on a rr yet and have not been in a car with shrick

I have a Schrick VGI on my car & love the way it moves the torque lower down the rev range which is ideal for normal driving. When I was looking for a VR all the standard ones I drove felt sluggish until later in the rev range. Depends what your after really & what other mods you may have planned?

I'd rather have a Schick than cams and a remap anyday of the week.

When I sold the mk2, I drove the car without a VSR - and it felt so dull to drive, felt like it had no low end grunt what so ever.

Now, stick in a schrick and a G60 final drive, youve just transformed the car into something much better!

If £ is your issue then cams and remap will do the job

Personally I think it's worth the £ and I love my torque :-)

Actually I don't know what I want yet :-d

Maybe go for the more expensive turbo solution

or a N/A solution including cylinderhead, cams, VSR and remap.

I have just bought this car a 1998 Syncro with the 2.9 ABV OBD 2 engine. I am going to use the car nearly 20.000km a year, so maybe the N/A is the best way to go. I know that I will only be able gain around 25PS, but still.....

Yeah it's the same with the 3.68 final drive!

Mine with a short runner, 8.5:1 compression and 3.68 final drive is loads quicker (off boost!) than a mate's standard VR6 with 3.39 diff and 10:1 compression and intake etc. His has more torque on the dyno from idle to 2500rpm, but on the road, mine is faster, a LOT faster.

Gearing is what the VR needs. If I had to choose between gearing and the schrick / cams, I'd take the gearing :-)
