coolant everywhere!!

i've had very few problems with my VR - until i put it up for sale!! i think it means it wants to stay *-)

took a guy out for a test drive on saturday, he was really keen and loved the bellow of the VR but as i pulled back into out yard it was chucking out stinking steam from under the bonnet!!

after inspection its developed a waterleak at the back of the block and was throwing coolant onto the manifold - hence the stench!!

is this likely to be the crack pipe that everyone goes on about????

crack pipe is at the front of the block mate, back of the engine it's likely to be a split pipe I would think

hmm, ok, i'm gonna have to have a delve then - last thing i wanted to do was spend time and money on it to sell it really, nevermind eh. 8-)

shouldnt be that tricky to find tbh mate and plenty of peeps me included have loads of spare hoses which I am sure I could pass on for a minimal charge if it turns out to be that

I had something very similar a little while ago and it was the coolant hose at the back of the block to the heater i believe, sprayed all over the manifold and engine covers, fine when started but blip the throttle at the 'body and it spat out under pressure

hit the nail on the head there mate, thats exactly what its doing!

Hope you get it sorted then bud! If it's right near to the clip there might be enough to trim it down for temporary fix

all sorted, found the bas**rd leak! off to the stealership to get a new hose (£38.50 + VAT) and thermostat (£20.50 + VAT)

If you're getting coolant as well, you can get a G12 equivalent from euro car parts now and is a load cheaper than VW

ah mate as I said above I have a whole set of hoses here !! could have had one for a £5 !

had to get from the breakers in the end mate, VW haven't got them in stock anywhere and neither have TPS. had to get it fixed that day cos i had a bloke coming to see it today - and he bought it
