badboyV6 4
Just took my dub for a spin and when i got back ive got yellow fluid leaking from underneath the bumper on the airbox side of the engine bay. It hissing a lot. Im thinking its the air con, anyone else here had a similar problem? Im hoping its a split pipe.......
mickelson 0
It could well be your aircon. It shouldnt hiss for long as it is under such high pressure that it wont take long to discharge. You should have 134A in your system, it can come with any colour dye in it. to air on the side of caution, untill you can prove it is something else, do not turn on your air con at all, the refridgerant lubricates your pump, without it, your pump will sieze. i suggest you get it checked asap, as your aircon should be operated at least once a month (even in cold weather) just to maintain lubricated seals. Just done aircon course through my job so am a bit of a aircon sado at the mo. hope this helpsMick

mickelson 0
Thanks for the info Mick- im getting it checked out next week - hoping its just a pipe that knackered. Do you know what is located in that part of the engine bay? (behind the front bumper on the drivers side - almost directly behind the front indicator)According to the Bentley manual I have it says that the Receiver is behind the bumper. I looked on my VR and found it to be correct. It sits underneath your evap canister down past the air box. from the receiver the pipe work goes up to the Evaporator which will be within the heating compartment. the chances are that you may have a perished flexy pipe somewhere. The only way to prove it, is to have the system pressure tested by an air con specialist. They should put a dye in the system then pressurise it. hopefully you will be able to see the dye escaping. If the yellow stuff you are seeing proves to be a leak in the air con, make sure you get it done by a decent company. They MUST COMPLETELY discharge, evacuate and recharge the sytem. dont let them just recharge it. If they dont evac it and remove all the moisture you will have problems in the long run. badboyV6 4
Cheers Mick for the informative reply - very helpful m8. According to your manual are their flexi pipes utilised by the air con? I will let you know the result of this one..... TBC
mickelson 0
most definately, the majority from the engine to body will be flexi, quite likely it will be one of these that will have perished.
