The price of oil is as low as it has been for a while, But the oil companies have simply jacked their prices up and the government will not do anything as they rake in extra VAT for every increase.

We are hitting 118.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 1.50 a litre. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T PURCHASE ANY petrol FROM the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and

pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ...

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt,

all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 90p a LITRE RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and BUY your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc.

A lad at work just done this the other day, but by accident as we have fuel cards for work so wouldn't have made any difference to his pocket! But the Police were on him like a flash so doesn't really work

it doesnt matter how much the ol companies charge, its the tak that hits us most.

take the tax away and its less than half of what we pay now.

attack the government and not the oil companies.

Unfortunately they do rule the market, theres nothing to say that tomorrow every oil company raises its prices to £2 a litre, plus the tax your looking at £4 a litre of fuel.

£1.32? Ouch! Cheapest garage round my area now is around £1.21 a litre for petrol, but ive seen prices of £1.24+

This IS the same as not buying from tescos.

Unfortunately, as stated, there are not enough people to do this that will listen and do it. As far as I can see, the only thing that is certain to continue is people moaning about it but not doing anything.

As Bungy said, voting is the only way to slightly quell the price.

Just think though, dropping their income that they are use to will not happen. Instead, they will just transfer the loss of tax revenue by passing it on to other areas.....council tax, food.

It is a no win situation and people may aswell get use to the idea of bending over. That, or get an economical car for daily drivers. That also has the problem of insuring another car and buying, insuring and taxing another car.... so people wouldn't se a benefit there either.

Ok, you know the dual carraigeway that follows down from Sainsbury's in west green, the one that brings you out by Cheals roundabout? Well there's a garage on the left hand side on the carraigeway, cant remember what it's called even though I go there all the time, but yeah - that's the cheapest one in crawley as far as im aware.

Simple solution for cheaper petrol is to move country. We are to soft over here and just pay the price and moan. Pretty sure we have dearest fuel in europe. Move to saudi where its dirt cheap. lol

It's difficult to judge due to them using the Euro. In Belgium and Germany it's over €1.40. Which at current rates works out at the high 120s

This has been getting up my nose lately too. I drive 70 miles a day to get to work and back. It takes roughly £400 a month out of my wages JUST to get to and from work! £1.26.9 for the lose :-(

There is a very simple answer to all this at the moment with impending elections. Lobby your local MP and inform him the only way he will get your vote at election time is to have 90p ltr fuel in his/her manifesto. It is so close and they are so desperate it just might work. Every one moans but nobody acts. Can you imagine the outcry with high fuel prices in the USA. We pay 3.5k million a year to be in the EU. Spain takes 3k million a year out of the EU. This would cover halving the price of fuel. It is all a matter of priorities and we choose ours (by voting).
