Intermittant Mis-Fire (After new leads)

Recommended Posts

Defo worth checking the hall sender in my opinion.

Managed to locate and remove mine yesterday (with info from others on this forum) in the rain, gave it a nice clean and put it back in. The car has had a mis-fire for about 2 months, leads & plugs have been changed. This has definately made a difference although the mis-fire is still there (slightly), I have a new hall sender on order now.

HI All

MY 1997 VR6 OBD2 has an intermittant mis-fire/coughing. Mainly when pulling off from stopped. On motorway it is fine and still pulls hard, with ave 33 mpg.

I have VAG-COM and it shows no faults.

I have fitted new plugs, ht leads, and fuel filter, ALL genuine VW parts.

I have checked the coil pack by spraying with water, no arcing. BUT i checked it for resistance across the pairs of coils and got two at about 3900 ohms, and the 3rd pair at 3600 ohms, should all 3 not be the same?

Will try the Hall/cam sensor clean tonight.

If not new coil pack I think, £380 form VW UK, £170 from USA inc postage. Good old England!

What I realy need is a test swap of a coil pack, anyone in the Yorkshire area?

Jim
