The Monk 50
It is the oil breather valvey, hose, thing, quest. Just as you say.Ford do them, for like £30. The part number for the breather valve is on this site somewhere, so have a search VW do them for £80 - £110.
McPikie 3
£30.75 + VAT from Ford as of yesterdayPart number in the FAQs

akz786 0
just another question on top of that, wat is the box behind it the plastic one? whats contained within it? as mine has oil around it!
thesurgeon 51
Looks like I'm going to need a Ford bit too, but mine looks different to the others I've seen on here - no diaphram - is there a different part number for obd1 engines? Also does anyone know the name/part number of the plastic box (4 x 3 x 1 inch ish) at the very top of the breather pipes as mine is cracked, (not shown in pic), and could its failure result in oil dripping onto the exhaust manifold?(Yes that is fuel pipe being used instead of breather as I had some left over from replacing the fuel pipes8-))
Happy harry 0
you can just stick one of these on...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Breather-Filter-15mm-Oil-Crankcase-Air-Small-B-/270470473328?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3ef94be670and block the pipe coming from the air filter pipe. not sure thats the right size so measure it first!i didnt do this myself as i bought an original from a forum member but my mate has done this on his vr6 and its fine. Sheeldzy 1
Previous owner had done this to mine and the fumes were awful on a run. I managed to get an oil catch tank for £25 so fitter that this morning. Seems spot on and looks pretty too
Happy harry 0
never noticed any fumes on my mates tbh but i'll take your word for it!£30 odd just seems like alot of money for what it is to me! i was lucky to get one cheap.
Sheeldzy 1
Yeah fumes were only bad on a long run, hot oil and all that, blah blah. Glad all is sorted
Saunders82 0
You can buy this from vw as well it's just not on the obvious place on etka it's listed on a 1996 sharan 2.8 vr6 intake as a valve for cold climates only it's exactly the same bit. It's what everone sells on eBay but it's still £
Saunders82 0
Part number 7m0128101 £27.96 plus vat

With a bit of inginutiry it can be removed by moving the pipework around.
richierich37 236
went to vw today and they told me no part available, could someone point me in the right direction for the ford part!thanks in adv.................

richierich37 236
crankcase breather valve.................ford no. 7364573vw sharan no. 7mo 128 101i think!!!! lol
VeedubVR 0
are the ford parts exactly the same? The garage fitted a catch tank (bit of a pikey job but still). Is it worth buying a proper catch tank with a breather filter on and blocking up the other block? The catch tank thats on now has a little but of oil in it, not alot but some. thesurgeon 51
Update to my breather pipe problem. Tried the galaxy/sharan method but got a completely different pipe to the one that was split on mine.Went to my vw independent and ordered this which is a direct replacement. Part number 021103493A BREATHER HOSE £16.85 + VAT.For earlier models (mines a '93) it looks like there is a different part.2 Minutes to fit and no more nasty niffs.
