biggy 0
Am getting my highline back on monday evening after the full respray. looking like new now am well pleased. not sure whether i should look at getting a full engine rebuild on it. got a full service history with it and it has always been serviced regularly. it has 135k on the clock and at the moment pulls great once i get it up to about 3.5k revs. was owned for the last 5 years by a mum with kids as the last advisory said could not check rear adult belts as child seats fitted. engine runs fine and not drinking alot of oil do have one concern every so often while engine is running i get a whine which lasts about 1/2 a second. don't want to spend a fortune on a rebuild if it's not really needed as i have looked and it seems its about £2500.Any advice would be appreciated,
CALICO 130
if its been serviced regularly as you say then it should go on past 180,000 easy enough without the need for a rebuildhow often does it make the whine noise ?
biggy 0
whine is happening intermittently sometimes once every few minutes usually within about 15 minutes of starting to drive it then i think it stops. will have to check this once i get it back on tuesday. garage said it may be the alternator but they would look into it when i put it in for a service. i have only had it for a few weeks now so if i don't need a rebuild on it should i put it in for a big service and should i also go to a vw dealership or an independant? CALICO 130
independant vw specialist like The PHIRM but they are a bit of a way from you vw dealers will charge a fortune is your dash flashing that it needs a service
biggy 0
yes but it wasn't put through a vw specialist for the last few years just a independant, flashing in 02 but i know its had services as i have receipts and mot's/advisorys going back to purchase in
Gazbarber1982 3
Might sound silly but have you checked to see if it's the aux. water pump? Mine used to do it every now and again once warm and quite a lot once I turned the engine off. New pump fixed it.
CALICO 130
you should be able to google how to reset the service thing or get someone with VAG-COM to switch it off but if your having it serviced the garage should do it for nowt
