LiamD 0
I'm now doing 2nd gear burnouts on Toyo T1's, which gets heat into them and they grip well, but I need to step it up a level. I'm also flatshifting 3rd to 4th which isn't too kind on parts!I want to run sticky drag tyres and I'm pretty worried it's gonna start pooping out shafts and even worse gearboxes. After seeing my mate's EK Civic poop a driveshaft doing a burnout at the weekend it has me worried! What sort of power can these things handle? Or what is the weak item that's gonna go pop? Ben Seabrook 4
if you look at peeps that do a lot of drag runs on sticky tyres and burn out's mate - Tony, Dave are two that spring to mind they do go through boxes, drive shafts etc !!
Rustyman 0
Best thing you can do is if you get spare 5 mins read some old threads on block.s injectors etc... most of the seniors here say that the stock injectors are good for 300bhp ...And so far i've not heard of anyone blowing the blocks up. LiamD 0
i'm not too worried about the engine, i'm quietly confident in that bit, haha. The shafts and boxes are what worries me.I come from a Polo/Lupo background, they have notoriously crap gearboxes! I'm hoping a VR is built properly. Not using a gearbox too weak for a G-Wizz like a VW Lupo is.
cabrioman 6
well i used full race slicks 3 weeks ago at gti and blew a drive shaft cv joint im the only one to do that so far ... i was doin 2nd gear burnt outs but imop full slicks are just to sticky and ull end up breaking boxes and shafts im now moving onto R888s .... i also have a gearbox with a LSD so the next weakest thing is the cv joints .... if i was u id get some 888s and a diff and u `should` be ok .... LiamD 0
I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for an LSD Interesting about the tyres, I've been told to avoid R888's for 1/4 mile use, a lot of people said they don't like getting hot quickly (ala, burnout) and don't produce the same sort of grip as on a track.I was going to try Mickey Thompson ET Streets, bit more expensive but immense grip, hence worrying about the shafts/box.Looking forward to seeing your car run Tony when I'm next at pod, sounds a bit of an animal
