cable 0
Ive just finished a conversion with my 16v to an obd2 12v vr6.My vr6 has a misfire when under load, higher rev range and lower rev range only runs on 6 cylinders when very smooth with the throttle. i went to check the coil today, spayed water on it and no sparks at all, Ive already replaced the spark plugs and leads and nothing.Any ideas? Thanks Zack

cable 0
already tried that and nothing comes up does anyone know what the secondary resistance of the coil is supposed to read? Thanks
thegoth 5
when you say coil can I take it that you've got an early dizzy engine? or do you mean coil pack?
cable 0
sorry meant to write coil pack, yh its the later OBD2 engine.Just checked the secondary resistance and its about 3800-3900 ohms for cylinders 2/5 and the rest are 3500, would that mean i need a new coil pack, also just put the coil pack back on the car and its misfiring alot more now. Just checked the seconday resistance from my old 16v coil and it reads 3110 ohms are the vr6 coilpacks supposed to be that low?Just trying to find out if its the ignition causing the misfire or the fuel injectors (because the engine was outside for god knows how long before i brought it) also another thing that i have noticed is that the fuel pump stays on when the ignition is on, when im sure its supposed to turn off after around 2 seconds?? russj249 2
VR6 coilpack should be between 3600 and 4400 ohms secondary resistance. If you join as a full member, you have full access to the knowledge vault and there's a complete guide on testing the coilpack and leads etc on there. Well worth the £15 to join.As for fuel pump, test the pressure in the rail. I think the OBD2's are regulated at 3bar (OBD1's are 4bar) If it's reaching that and not knocking off check the relay isn't sticking.Could just be stuck active all the time so as soon as you turn ignition on the pump is running until the ignition is turned off. Not sure what relay number it is though. I know the fuel pump is fuse 18 (20A if I remember correct)
