VeedubVR 0
Anyone relocated it? Ive heard of a few people removing them but leaving the valve in place. Could be the perfect place for a decent size cold air feed.
jesterwalker69 0
Chucked it mate.If you use the search function on here you'll find a thread created sometime last year in regards to how to remove it and which pipe to block and which to leave open

VeedubVR 0
Easy to remove? Got any pics?So form what ive read, I block the black tube off and run the clear 1 into the wing? But why is it there if its not needed?
dman78 1
yh mine was easy to remove, gave it a wiggle and it came loose, blocked the black hose and ran the clear one into the wing
gavinvr6 0
the carbon can is to minimise fuel vapour smells or something silly like that.with a couple of 3" silicon bits and some 3" alloy tube makes a great way to re-locate the filter to behind the air duct in the bumper. or somewhere to run the feed for a BMC, but be carefull of water/rain as it will ruin a filter instantly if possitioned that low and possibly your engine if you suck up a puddle. dont use a filter with wire mesh as this will rot and contaminate the filter. i found that out the hard way unfortunately
VeedubVR 0
Any side effects of removing it?

VeedubVR 0
Guuna attempt to remove this today. Does the front bumper need to come off, or just jack the car up?
dman78 1
airbox out for more space then jacked mine up and went to work
Dazdub 0
Relocated mine to fit my Pipercross carbon fibre induction pipe and new filter.
CALICO 130
its a doddle to get the front bumper off then you wouldnt need to struggle to see anything imo
Gazbarber1982 3
Relocated it on mine. Exactly the same position on the opposite side of the car. Even has the mounting points to fit it. 2 meters of 4mm and 8mm silicone vacuum hose to extend the original hoses run behind the battery, abs pump and brake servo. Looks OEM too!! golfgirlvr6 0
Have you removed it yet?
VeedubVR 0
Yeah took it out yesturday. But theres something behind the bottom grill thats stopping the air feed. Does the golf have 2 horns? I think its the horn thats in the way.
squid1 0
yer they do have two both on tht side ones like on the wing n ones on the front! u can get round it mate easy thers loads of room
dman78 1
you dont wanna put your air feed too low,if you have to drive through water it will suck it up
VeedubVR 0
Im trying to work around the horn so the pipe goes from the front, but ive got the other end of the pipe just behind the headlight so its taking air into the bay and not directly onto the filter just incase. I know a few people running carbonio induction kits and they will be fooked in heavy rain. Just tried to fit the new vents and the horn is in the way and there isnt enough room to bend the bracket. Should be ok to just remove that one right and just have a single horn?
