duffbo3000 0
Hi there everyone, Myself and my friend have started a little competition with another two friends, the rules are we spend £1000 on a car per couple and have a variety of track challengers to see which will win, the others managed to buy a subaru impreza and we bought a n reg vr6 golf , We bought the car with a bigger brake conversion, braided hoses and coilovers. We have gutted the car to save a bit of weight and after having a rolling road test (not sure of the exact figures 191bhp?!) we need to buy some reasonably cheap tyres as our ones are perished. Does anyone have any idea of which tyre is good for the track? We have been looking at toyo, kumho or nankangs? We dont want to send fortunes on tyres as i imagine they wont last long! Also is it possible to change the brake fluid to DOT 5.1 for a little more braking ability at higher temps?

J5KE F 0
Track tyres are very weather permitting so pick ur day well!In the wet the scooby may well be gone!Get some coilies height and ride adjustable more so than tyres, front and rear struts are only cheap also!Once shes stiffened the renowned mk 3 roll will be reduced to a moody track squat and u'll gain valuable seconds against the 4wd track byatch of a scooby!I am currently runnin toyo proxes 888's which are amazing in the dry. IN THE DRY! (THE D R Y!!!!)kumos are very good all round and cheap enough, in fact much better than yoko. (At almost half the price) but they dont last too long on track!Once u got the above right then speak to mat at c2 for power ups!Ps how much u got left after buying the car...? Rustyman 0
Get rid of the CAT a straight through pipe & Aero Turbine exhaust ( it has no wadding to baffle sound or restrict air flow )... 6 branch manifold, Air filter & cams and re-map.. Run higher octaine fuel try SUNOCO £100 a barrel and she'll be up around 220bhp enough to whip that jap biatch...
b road blaster 0
is that a grand just on the car or to do everything to the car aswell????still say for that sort of cash the scoob is gonna be a knacked dog and if he ups the boost she will blow but you could well have you work cut out for a few laps you could also see if you could find a second hand nos kit
duffbo3000 0
Hi guys, for some reason i have only just been able to read your replies. So far we have fitted coilovers and some kumhos and stripped out most of the interior, We have been to bedford airdrome and silverstone last week, even though the car oversteers alot its so much fun!!! As much as we try we cannot loose it! Very forgiving. We were racing a focus rs at silverstone which lost it round one long corner but our golf (now named shake and bake) stuck solid. The subaru on the other hand lasted 3 laps and retired with a water leak then the pas pump packed up. We have just booked up castle coombe for half a day on the 27th sept if anyone is keen to join us.
Gmedia 0
I am PARTNER in CRIME, and yes, it would be great to meet fellow VR Crew at the track.... Find the afternoon stint on www.tracdays.co.uk for £119.00We've just bought a rear strut, (apparently a front strut would not help with the oversteer) We're also combating oversteer with negative camber, and lower tyre pressures (lower pressure = more tread on track contact)Higher tyre pressure in the rear, means they will lose grip quicker and help straighten it out ;0)Dash is coming out, and headlining...Anyone got any bucket seats that will fit? Cheap!?Give us a call, Gio 07961565686Cheers guys,"Shake n' Bake"PS. The Scooby, actually couldn't keep up with us, but they didn't have the boost turned right up, so we need to keep them on their toes.
