Hi,

I've got a 6 branch manifold on my car, it's been fine but after abit of town driving yesterday, I noticed my brake fluid to be right to the top of the bottle (I assume the heat from the manifold is boiling it) and my strut brace was far to hot to touch, all I have is the standard heatsheild..

Now, I didn't want to wrap it initially as I like seeing a bare manifold and the colour they go but something needs to be done really as I now know why my brakes go spongey!

Whats the best wrap to go for? I got one before and I gave up with it as even when wet I couldn't do it! lol I wuold send it to be ceramic coated but I realllyyyyyyyyyy don't want to be removing it!

Thanks

Assuming your talking about the Racelands.... I'd never run one without heat wrapping it to be honest... wrapping is almost compulsary.

Make sure you wet the heat wrap to stop all the fibres getting on your longs / in your eyes, its easier to wrap when off the car for a better job.

I've wrapped my 3" downpipe and it helps soooo much. I don't know if you've touched hot stainless pipe before? It bloody hurts! But its because it gives off a different sort of heat to normal steel, are retains heat very well too.

Ask aaronmk2 what happened to his brake servo pipe on the last rr day!

Defo wrap it mate! :-)

Touching my strut brace hurt enough! lol

My wrap came through today, will try wrapping while it's in place on the weekend, if no success I'll remove it :( My shaved bay makes it all quite accessable, just depends if I can get the wrap/my arm between pipes and blokc!

Cheers for advice :D

Wrap it, for what it costs and what it saves, it's worth it!

My bay was getting stupidly hot, you could feel the heat next to the car and it was cooking EVERYTHING around it.. I just took it out and now it's lovely, can put my hand on the brace and my brake fluid isn't boiling itself out the bottle!

Makes a nice noise, performance I dont know as I did alot in one go..

  • 2 weeks later...

cheers guys i bought 200ft! haha still, at least ill have some spare to use for other bits :)

going all out on this one, manifold being wrapped, intake being shielded, filter put right down behind headlight, m/c being shielded etc etc.

may be going overkill, but id rather go ott than have my brakes going funny and losing power when she's warmed up!
