xyber 1
Heat exchanger failed and letting oil into the coolant and probably gunged up the sensors
poultergeist 0
How easily sorted is that?
xyber 1
Easy, front bumper off, drain oil and coolant, fit new heat exchanger that lives on the front of the engine above the oil filter, refill fluids, flush the coolant through, drain and refill with G12. Probably cost you £70 max for the lot if you DIY it and a mornings work.Worth scanning first though to see if any codes point to something else
poultergeist 0
I went into my VW dealers and asked for a heat exchanger and they said heater matrix? Is it the same thing? If so,I have replaced the matrix and it is still doing the same thing?!
VR6Pete 1,455
no, the heat exchanger is in the oilcooler on the front of the engine as far as im aware. The heater matrix sits behind the dashboard inside the car...
poultergeist 0
Fucking dealerships!!!Well I've just done the matrix and all the above problems still apply (apart from the puddle of water in the footwell)Any ideas? Is it very likely to be the heat exchanger because it is a bit of a ball ache if it isnt
