Lots of bits turned up today, this is getting very exciting only bad points are

Neuspeed p-flo induction kit - cancelled got a K&N off Jon on the forum

OBD2 C2 ECU - sold before I could collect gutted but not to worry there's United Motorsport just around the corner.

Still caught between Rotrex or Turbo. My turbo build costs are still around the same price.

Wish I could get a better deal on the Rotrex, I should have bought Craigs lol.

Now then, turbo idea has gone to pot. So its back on the Rotrex.

There are two many varibles and loads of understanding before I go turbo, I just want to say the guys that have done it hat off you all.

I've gone through my shopping list and decided its all a bit too much I think to start with.

So bits so far.

Schimmel Cams

Jetex non-resonated 2.5inch exhaust system with Milltex decat

6 branch manifold

312mm brake conversion

ARP headbolts

8.5.1 head spacer

Gearbox + LSD

K&N cone filter

76mm 135 degree silicone hose, need a 75mm to 51mm reducer, then 300mm alloy t-pipe with 25mm spout for the re-circ and a 51mm 90 degree elbow to charger.

Still to get the below

Boost gauge

AEM AFR including lamba and gauge

Lucas 440cc injectors - Do i really need these to start with?

4bar inline fuel pump - Hopefully TonyVR6's

NGK spark plugs - Not sure which ones to buy yet?

Re-circulating dump valve - Not sure which spring I need yet?

Oil pressure gauge - Do I really need this to start with?

Going to get the engine compression tested first to ensure there are no major issues, if all good then its head spacer, new head gasket, arp headbolts and new chains and guides etc...

Then I will get the Rotrex DIY kit including either the C30-84 or C30-94 with 6psi pully.

I am not after major power to start with but around 280 - 325 bhp would nice progressive torque would be great and an car that keeps its reliability.

I will be honest I have never supercharged a car before but its seems alot less complicated that turboing.

If anyone has pointers or advise I would appreciate it.

Well the way I did it Martin was.....

312s on as wanted them anyways

Already had miltek on

Then I put charger on, with no gauges or spacer plate and it ran fine.

Then I put spacer plate and ARPs on with Tony along with a new head that Tony provided.

Then I decatted it.

Then gauges went on...well boost gauge and AFR/wideband

I had 360cc injectors to go in but bought the R32 before I got to that stage and was running circa 300bhp at that

Cheers Craig, I did start to think I am way over doing this.

I am thinking of selling the new Schimmel Cams, dont get the gearbox with LSD as its not ready which would allow the chap to still get rid of it soonest and put the money into the Rotrex kit.

Otherwise the rest of it is good to go I think. I did think you would respond! Cheers.

HAd to realy matey.

So get spacer on and charge it, as easy as that.

Then get it running right, so decat and gauges to help breathing and tell ya whats going on in there.

Rest can be done afterwards in stages. If you do the cams then put injectors in so only one mapping session to set it up.

And enjoy it!!!!!

So small update really, K&N cone filter cleaned and oiled, ARP head stud set paid and will be delivered shortly, Jetex system fitted with decat (bloody loud), new tyres fitted (205/45/16) on my 8j's.

Ordered an APIRO Stainless Steel, Induction Air Filter Heat Shield to protect the filter under the bumper, and Mikalor W2 Supra Clamps for the exhaust as the ones supplied I really dont like. All from ebay.

Its coming on now with the parts etc...dont think the wife is happy with the parts littering the house lol

  • 1 month later...

Another update as its been a while

I got the AEM AFR,

Schimmel short runner and HT leads,

Gas flowed head is being negotiated

All I need now is the Rotrex and I am good to go. Looks like this is going to be next year for the Charger.

I want to get the paint work sorted and new door sill welded before winter.

All the parts that can be fitted will be so all I need to do is bolt the charger on and get a remap

Oh Polished Schrick is for sale.

Hey Dazza,

EBC are going to replace them as a good will gesture. They actually thought I did this on purpose. Twats lol.

No matter as I am going to sell the new set and get some Ferodo FDS775 and FDS541, once I get some pennies together.

I got the below parts ready for the engine work in a next few weeks.

Oil

Oil filter

Coolant

Sump plug washer

Rocker cover gasket

Metal layered head gasket

ARP head stud kit.

I was going to fit a 8.5.1 head spacer but decided against it once I spoke to VF-Engineering department in the states due to running 8psi boost on a stage 2 kit. So the head spacer is for sale if anyone is interested?
