VR6Pete 1,455
If you notice, it's not the "site" it's isolated to the forums only.As explained many of times in "website suggestions & problems" it's an issue where by the forum code is pulling a huge amount of DB queries, causing a bottle neck within mysql. When there are more people browsing the forums, it becomes slow and 404 errors occur. As a temporary solution, you can just hit your refresh button and the forum should load. There are 2 ways I can go about this;1) Install new forum software, this means no integration with the website, you will have to sign in twice, no posts will be transferred over to the new forum either.2) Await the release of the CVS code for e107 (no release date as yet) which the issues users are experiencing have been addressed, I've actually ran the beta code, which does work well, however due to the nature of the code, it caused more problems elsewhere on the forum. Please bear with me while I deal with the issue. Apologies for any viewing displeasure caused by this issue. Thanks,Pete
Slim 0
Might be better in the long run switching to new software like phpbb, it might be an inconvenience in the short run but would be worth it in the end as it's much more versatile.
acf8181 0
yeah, i'll go with slims assessment.
mark@vagworx 0
What about VBulletin...or am i talking out of my arse here?!? Quite a few forums seem to use it.
mk3anni 0
We run Vbulletin at work.....its poo in my opinion!!!
VR6Rich 3
I like the way the forum is integrated with the site. If the new release is going to sort it the problems out then maybe try that before trying something else. Thanks for the update Pete. :-)

VR6Pete 1,455
vbulletin sucks imo, only worth while software is invision board, however all posts would be lost, putting us back to square one.
Bampson 0
hey sorry to bring this up again but i seem to be having some weird probs . 1. i got an email saying PM recived ,but no PM in my box .. 2. i dont get the little yellow flags come up when there is a new post in a thread.is it just me ? is there something i should be doing ?
acf8181 0
think yellow flags is everyone, sure admin is aware of it and trying to sort it.sure it wasn't just a delayed e-mail, and that you'd already read the PM by the time you got it?
VR6Pete 1,455
not sure about the PM's,... nothing has been touched in that area, the yellow flags im aware off, im sure you would be more than happy to put up with that as opposed to unusable forums now Pete
Slim 0
Another thing I noticed, if you click on the view new posts since last visit link like I prefer to do, if there's been more than 50 new posts which there often is thanks to Word Association, the list only gives you a maximum of 50 new posts. binliner 0
I don't have any probs with it loading but people Ive spoke to who do say it's only on this forum that they have a problem... how come?Slim I can solve that problem by deleting the word association thread

Ferrari VR6 0
I'm into web design and in my opinion this is an excellent site and there has obviously been a huge amount of work put in to get it to this stage of development. Yes it may be slow at the moment but i think we're lucky to have such a good looking and well layed out website for our use as we could be using some prefabricated raabbish from microsh*t. Wait for the update guys, it won't be too long now...
RALA 0
This is a well layed out site and does look the nuts. SOOO easy to use, it just how slow it is, but if that will be resolved with the update then lets just live with it!!
