Hi,

after bashing the hell out of my sump and it beening so thin it starting to leak. I ordered a new one from VW a a cost of £100, fitted it, thought "I must be more careful now". Then I drove over some large ruts in the road, out side the steel works, where the massive lorrys cross the road. I had no time to brake!! Only time to brace myself. Well, the new sump looks just like my old sump, not leaking yet, thank god.

I've looked for a sump gaurd and only found them in the USA. I heard you can fit a R32 mk5 sump and oil pick? And dad said why dont you dry sump it, like old racing Jags!?

Any ideas chaps?

Raise the car its cheaper than replacing sumps each time, 3.2 sumps are alloy so can crack easier if hit, tho they are shallower.

I love driving my R32 as its at standard height and is a dream to drive without worrying about bottoming out teh car

mk5 r32 sumps are alloy as craggsy said, which crack before bending unlike our steel ones...but the the mk5 pickup and a shortend steel sump work nicely. plus engine raisers...basically a 25mm 'puck' under ur front engine mount. only prob with raising engine is it lifts the driveshafts too... im now hitting the chassis leg so a notch is in order...its never ending.

even im jus thinking about raising it now. doin my head in! :D dropped toooooo much oil and been beeched toooo many times its not funny anymore!
