Pauli08 0
alright all, i took the plunge and called the guy in the add i posted. He was an older fella (good sign i suspect) who bought it off a mechanic mate of his 6 years ago (who he claims did a bit of work on the engine)he thinks he is the second owner (said he would call and find out), and said he would get a list together with receipts of what has been done to the car for when i go have a look.over the phone he told me that he has had the electric windows replaced, new valves, he said last bloke replaced the timing chain, new radiator and the rest is on a peice of paper i scribble down somewhere :S lol he did tell me the air conditioning stopped working, but because he does litle driving now and the weather he has not replaced and suspects it just needs new gas (is their any way to check this?)will keep you all posted and try and get some flicks for you when i go tomorrow! [/quote']Aircons pretty straight forward, cant really go wrong. Regassing or recharging is pretty inexpensive and can be done at most garages.Sounds pretty good! Considering the engines been maintained well, not many owners and is unlikely to be have been thrashed.Don't know whether its just bad luck, but I've had 2 golfs now and replaced the electric window mechs 3 or 4 times now. Think that must be a common problem.
